Scope and Contents
This oral history interview with Stephen M. Bloom was conducted by Donna Sinclair at the U.S. District Courthouse in Portland, Oregon, from April 19 to May 2, 2005, as part of the United States District Court Oral History Project. The interview was conducted in three sessions, and a transcript is available. Part of the third session was recorded simultaneously on audiocassette and videocassette.
In this interview, Bloom discusses his family background and early life in San Francisco and the San Fernando Valley, California, as well as his education at Stanford University and at the Willamette University law school. He speaks at length about his legal career, particularly focusing on practicing law in Pendleton, Oregon, from 1981 to 2005, and on cases he worked on in the field of water law.
