Oregon portions of U.S. Board on Geographic Names dockets, 1970 January-November
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of records of the Oregon Geographic Names Board that Thomas C. Stacer, a member of the board, gathered in 1969 and 1970. These records include meeting minutes and the Oregon portion of U.S. Board on Geographic Names dockets. The collection also includes materials related to specific issues that the board dealt with in 1969 and 1970, including an unsuccessful effort to rename Lake Umatilla as Lake Aldrich after East Oregonian editor E. B. Aldrich (1879-1950). Additional materials in the collection consist of event notices from the Oregon Historical Society, which Stacer likely received because he was a member of the Oregon Geographic Names Board.
