The bulk of the photographs are of spouses Addie Sutton Parvin and Zimri Mullen Parvin; other family members depicted include their grandson Vivian Zimri Brown, great-grandson Walter Zimri Brown, and daughter Mamie P. Brown.

Sheet music composed or arranged by Zimri M. Parvin (1843-1921), who served as dean of the College of Music at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, and director of the Albany Conservatory of Music in Albany, Oregon. Parvin also helped to found the Northwestern Normal School of Music and Art in Portland, Oregon.
