Records of the Columbia River Fishing and Trading Company, consisting of ledgers, a letter book, and loose papers. The firm was established by Nathaniel J. Wyeth (1802-1856) and operated from Fort Hall near the near the junction of the Portneuf and Snake rivers in what would later become Idaho. The enterprise was unsuccessful, and Fort Hall was sold to the Hudson's Bay Company in 1837.

Collection includes two manuscript letters to F. G. Young relating to publishing Nathaniel Wyeth's journal and letters, and correspondence regarding Wyeth's claim to land on Sauvie Island, Oregon.

Collection consists of a typescript, "Captain Nathaniel J. Wyeth's Journey up the Deschutes River in 1834-35," 7 pages, undated, regarding the plotting of a trail that differs from that of the Ralph Shane maps. Also included is a typescript letter to Thomas Vaughan, January 31, 1971, regarding corrections in plotting Peter Skene Ogden's 1824-1826 expeditions in Snake Country.

Collection consists of typescript and microfilmed copies, made by the Oregon Historical Society Research Library from materials in its collections, of papers relating to Nathaniel J. Wyeth. Collection includes typescript copies, 1832-1901, of correspondence with John Ball and others, lectures and lecture notes, Indian vocabulary, and documents relating to Columbia River Fishing & Trading Company. The microfilm contains these and additional documents.
