Collection includes materials of and relating to members of the Couch, Burns, Hoffman, and Wilson families, as well as the Hoffman Construction Co. The papers include diaries of Caroline Couch Hoffman and Mary Caroline Burns, and correspondence of various family members. Also included are obituaries and ephemera, as well as publications about the history and projects of the Hoffman Construction Co.

Abstract Margery Hoffman Smith (born 1888) was a leading supporter of the arts, both in Portland, Oregon, and later in San Francisco. In the 1930s, Smith worked with the Works Progress Administration, supervising the handcraft work carried out for Timberline Lodge.
