Frank C. Calkins letters
Frank Cathcart Calkins (1878-1974) was a mapper, petrologist, and geologist. Collection consists of correspondence, primarily to Henrietta Mack Eliot, 1973-1974, regarding past trips to the Pacific Northwest while working for the U. S. Geological Survey, as well as letters concerning the account of his father, C. G. Calkins, of the Battle of Manila Bay in 1898.
Ralph Penniwell Cowgill photograph albums
Black and white photographs and cyanotypes, primarily in two albums. Scenes in one album relate to work by the U.S. Geological Survey in the Pacific Northwest from 1898-1900, particularly in Idaho; locations include Coeur d'Alene Lake, Spokane, Mount Adams, the Columbia River Gorge, and Mount Hood. The second album includes photographs of an irrigation project near Medford, Oregon.
